"The Bay" has re-established itself after the fire of 2001. Blue Water Bay has a seafood/salad buffet every Friday and Saturday night for $21.95 that spans the world in scope and flavors. The desserts are baked "on premise" by our bakers and include our famous "Sour Orange" pie.

Disappointing Jul 4th, 2005
After all the good reviews, we had to see it for ourselves. Unfortunately, The Bay did not live up to the hype.

Four of us were seated immediately but then waited at least 20 minutes before being greeted. Service went downhill from there. The waitress was new and released onto the public without adequate training; we had to help her open a bottle of wine but say nothing when it was served completely inappropriately.

Food was just so-so. Oysters and seared ahi were ok. My side of herbed pasta was way overcooked. What was amazing was they offer a choice of 6 or 7 side dishes, all starchy, and we had to pay an additional $2.25 for some vegetables.

After taking almost 3 hours for a meal that should have taken only 90 minutes we passed on desserts.

The Bay is a pretty good ride for us and so we will probably not revisit for a long while.

A Diamond in the Rough! Aug 17th, 2004
On the spur of the moment we stopped into Blue Water Bay in Melrose. Who would have guessed od such comfortable elegance waited inside. The food is absolutely the finest. Herbs are used extensively from their four Herb Gardens and the menu abounds with selections sure to please. The Sushi is by far, most excellent! We felt we had found a diamond in the rough the evening we decided to stop in...and we have been back numerous times since!

Best Seafood Buffet! May 24th, 2004
I used to go to the Bay with my parents when I was in high school. Now that it is reopened I have yet to get back. I hope to do so soon because I miss those buffets!

Finally A restaurant in toon with herbs! Mar 13th, 2004
A visit to Blue Water Bay in Melrose is an experience in fine dining and an excellent use of herbs in seasoning their food. Their Friday/Saturday Seafood Buffet was excellent, from the unique buffet salads, each seasoned with different herbs that simply enhanced the natural flavours of each salad to the main entrees.
Kudos to the chefs...

30 years and back again! Jan 28th, 2004
My husband and I ate at Blue Water Bay 30 years ago when we were going to U.of F. In those days, it had music (bluegrass).
We tried it again recently, and I just have to say: we grew up in Florida and we know seafood; and this restaurant serves some of the best. I tried the buffet, which I don't usually do, but it was so good looking I couldn't resist or stop remarking on the quality of the selections. Best crab legs ever, best hushpuppies, fresh oysters, and melt-in-your-mouth stuffed flounder and top sirloin. Way too much food, but even the drawn butter and coffee were great. And they even had Bombay Blue Sapphire gin.
My husband had the bruschetta grouper - it was rich beyond words. The smoked salmon had a wonderful southern flavor as did the rice and beans.
The memories of our first meal were great and they had us giggling through the entire meal. As we drove off wearing shorts in the 70 degree weather, in our convertible, under a full moon in January, we felt awfully sad for the folks up north who just don't know what they are missing! ;)

wonderful fried shrimp Oct 19th, 2003
I had my 1st experience at Blue Water Bay last week while visiting family in Earleton,Fl....but it won't be my last. The Fried Shrimp are absolutely delicious, so is the Fried Gator Tail. And the owner makes a fabulous Margarita. I was only in Earleton for 4 days, and I ate at the Blue Water Bay 2 times. I highly recommend it to anyone. I would love to know what the shrimp is seasoned with.
