Dec 22nd, 2004 |
I could kick myself for going here more than once. I guess I can't quite believe that a restaurant can be this bad and still survive.
Ignoring for the moment the problems that are an integral part of the Long John Silver chain-- the confusing array of "platters," "dinners," "meals," " samplers," "combos," and "feasts"; the fact that virtually all of the entrees and most of the sides are deep-fried-- this place would be at the bottom of my list no matter what they served.
The building is meant to represent some sort of seaside shack, but it takes the act too far-- it's downright ramshackle, with fixtures that are worn, grimy and in need of replacement. The drive-thru mechanism frequently doesn't work... or maybe they're just ignoring me.
They are frequently out of items featured in the current month's promotion; yesterday they were out of shrimp.
The sullen children of the equally sullen employees barricade themselves in the back booths when they are not going behind the counter and helping themselves to whatever.
One saving grace: the place is seldom open as late as the posted hours state, though the outside lights and sign are often lit after the doors have been locked. |
